IMC PCB (Aluminum core)

IMS PCB (aluminum core)

Aluminum core PCB – also known as IMS (Insulated Metallic Substrates) – are used at occurring mechanical, but primarily at thermal loads. The core of the PCB is made entirely of aluminum and is separated by an insulation layer from the layouted traces. Compared to FR4 laminates, IMS have a better thermal conductivity, resulting in a more uniform temperature dissipation and thus the effect of passive cooling occurs. By the so avoided occurrence of heat hotspots, both the lifespan and the reliability of the finished assembly will be increased.

These properties of IMS PCB particularly suitable when using power components or high-performance LED technology.
